Ja, die Überschrift ist kein Scherz, es ist wahr. Diese Nachricht stammt von Mr. Eric Schmidt, der ein Interview für telegraph.co.uk gegeben hat. Diese Nachricht ist eine sehr bittere Aussage für Besitzer des Nexus One, denn viele haben gehofft, dass Google ein Nexus Two oder Pro mit einer QWERTZ-Tastatur auf den Markt bringt. Aus dem Interview erfahren wir, dass Google alle Ziele erreicht hat und jetzt auch kein Nexus Two entwickeln braucht.

Der Grund warum viele zum Nexus One gegriffen haben und nicht zum HTC Desire oder einem anderen Android Gerät ist, dass Firmware Updates immer zu erst für das Nexus One verfügbar sein werden. Dies sehen wir ganz deutlich beim Android 2.2 Froyo Update, das Nexus One hat schon etliche Froyo Updates erhalten und es wird anscheinend immer noch daran gearbeitet, wann es Froyo für das HTC Desire geben wird, ist leider noch nicht bekannt. Das liegt daran, dass HTC immer zu erst HTC Sense an die neue Android Version anpassen muss, was in den meisten Fällen etwas länger dauert. Initially, Google felt that they needed to build a device to help Android along so they worked with HTC to create the Nexus One handset. Schmidt says: “The idea a year and a half ago was to do the Nexus One to try to move the phone platform hardware business forward. It clearly did. It was so successful, we didn’t have to do a second one. We would view that as positive but people criticised us heavily for that. I called up the board and said: ‚Ok, it worked. Congratulations – we’re stopping‘. We like that flexibility, we think that flexibility is characteristic of nimbleness at our scale.
